Archie M. Klumph (and 5060 DG Marjolein Lloyd) stopped by SW Rotary Tuesday August 8th to review the goings on throughout the District and Rotary in general. She invited all Rotarians to attend next years District Conference in Penticton.

 

President Dirk handed over a bottle of wine to incoming President Lynn Harlington Tuesday June 27th at the Seasons. President Dirk had a VERY good

year as Club President, breaking membership records and hosting our annual auction with record breaking results. Now he passes the torch to Lynn, our sixth female President. We are excited at the prospect of the many great things ahead for SW Rotary!

 

During his outgoing meeting President Dirk Bernd awards Nicole Britt the George Martin Award recognizing her many efforts this year to support Rotary. And he hands Tammy Granados the Robert T. Knutsen Award for doing so much to promote SW Rotary and its goals this last year. Congratulations to both of them! Well deserved!

 

President-Elect Lynn Harlington (and husband Joe) just returned from the Rotary International Convention in Melbourne, Australia this week. Also in attendance were the two other President-Elects from the other two local Clubs...Erin Black with Downtown and Pam Cleaver with Sunrise. The convention was a great success and much enjoyed by all!

 

SW Rotary welcomes three new members this month. They are Joe Menard, Emily Heaverlo and Nicole Medina. The Club is at its highest membership totals in 50 years! Great news!

 

Guess Whose Coming To Dinner Event Saturday March 25th a fun night! SW Rotarians gathered at several home to dine and laugh together in the spirit of good fellowship. One of the year's best events!

 

On our first meeting back after the Holidays President Dirk welcomed two more new members to the Club. They are Kathleen Wilmes (Edward Jones) and Paul Trotter (eXp Realty). This brings our active membership count to 97...a new high. Bright future ahead for SW Rotary...

 

SW Rotarians gathered for a pre-Thanksgiving celebration on Tuesday November 8th at the Valley Mall. A Wear-Your-Team-Colors shirt highlighted the fun! Now on to Thanksgiving!

 

We are super excited to welcome Mike Brophy from Yakima Downtown Rotary Club and also Dave Lemon from Quincy Rotary Club!   Wonderful additions!

The Downtown, Sunrise and Southwest clubs jointly celebrated Mollie Davis with a Golf and Dinner fundraiser.  The day was warm, the golf scores were low and many dollars were raised to support our annual Mollie Davis Scholarship.

 

 

Welcome aboard Roberto Amado-Cattaneo!   Roberto shared his experiences as an exchange student along with being a Rotarian in Great Falls Montana!   Welcome Roberto.

 There are 34 very fortunate students that were awarded over $850 thousand dollars for the Mollie Monroe Davis Scholarships this year.  The luncheon at the Yakima Convention Center was truly touching and we all heard amazing stories!   Congratulations to these students who are college bound!   Good Luck!

 

Thanks to Chris Corry, we are so excited to welcome Ryan Wisner to our Rotary Club!   Ryan is a Sergeant with the Yakima Police Department and very committed to the Yakima Valley through public safety and community policing.     Welcome Aboard Ryan!

What a wonderful time we all had at our Holiday Party Tuesday evening, December 12th!   The Social Committee did a great job organizing the fun, food and fellowship!   I loved the marshmellow fight and of course the frustration that went along with the gifts wrapped in saran wrap!  Thank you Social Committee, Lynn, Joe, Dick, Kathy, Rick, Eileen, Gene and Chaired by Toni!   Great Job!

What a great time we all had making blankets on Saturday, December 9th at YV Tech!   Check out the productivity of our club - what an amazing group of people - All for a Great Cause!!!

What a great job our Social Committee did for our Halloween Party last night!   The decorations were spooky & the Mummy Making Contest was a blast!   Congratulations to Rotaract - The First Place Winners Katy, Angelina & Nick  -  (Nick is the Mummy).
